MISSION: Provide you with the comfort of your own home in the land of good winds (bons ventos). Former commercial center and jerky beef exporter, Aracati is surely the largest historic site of the colonial period of what used to be the capitaincy of Siara-Grande. The main curch of Nossa Senhora do Rosario, the Chamber House,the jail, the stately townhouses as the Barao do Aracati's (Jaguaribano Museum today, the other chapels, churches and even the ruins of an old jerky beef workshop (factory or house to benefit meat) with the appearance of a farm main house (a place usually known as "castle") among numerous other buildings, now give the historic witness of the village which was the birthplace of the sun-dried meat. Date of creation:> Aracati's history starts in the 17th century. The first housing village was named Sao Jose do Porto dos Barcos, subsequently, Cruz das Almas, and Santa Cruz do Aracati. In 1747, by charter of D. Joao V, the village of Sao Jose was elevated to the category of Vila de Santa Cruz do Porto dos Barcos. City foundation:> Aracati was elevated to city status by Provincial Law Nr. 244 on October 25th, 1842. Toponymy Aracati: whiff of smelling of city Patroness, Our Lady of the Rosary.
